The practitioners at Swarthmore Wellness share well over 50 years of practitioner experience between them. We are dedicated to serving our clients in the most generous way possible and to bring peace, wellness and inspiration into each of our sessions. Each of us continues to expand our education of various methods of massage, energy work, alternative health practices and more. In this way we are always improving our therapeutic skills and remaining on the cutting edge of new perspectives on health and wellness.

Mari Clements, MS, RD, DAy


mari clements | www.swarthmorewellness.comMari is the founder and owner of Swarthmore Wellness. She is a Registered Dietitian and nutritionist with a master's degree in Health Education and a diploma in Ayurvedic medicine. She has been a certified Jin Shin Do acupressure therapist since 1976 and is also a certified group wellness coach with Circle of Life. Mari has been a meditation practitioner, studying with various teachers, since the mid-seventies.

In addition to her practice here at Swarthmore Wellness she is co-director of Wellness at Swarthmore College. Mari has over twenty years of experience working with eating disorders, weight management, disease management and inclusive to all those is stress management. She works with both adolescents and adults. Her therapeutic approach is a blend of the traditional as well as alternative approaches to wellness.

Nutrition therapy emphasizes eating an optimally nutritious diet for your constitution, encouraging physical activity, and providing support for emotional responses to eating through coaching and acupressure therapy. Mari has presented nutrition and Ayurvedic talks to medical colleges, professional organizations and to the public since 1989. She has been published in journals and authored several chapters in books: "Blue Print for a Green School", Scholastic Publication;" Holistic Approaches to Healthy Aging", Springer Publishing Company; "Nutrition Therapy: Complementary and Alternative Practices", CRC Press LLC.

Linda Terranova, CMT


Linda Terranovalinda teranova | www.swarthmorewellness.com, CMT received her certification in Scientific Swedish Massage in 1992. She studied with Patricia Owens, owner of the Owens Institute of Massage and Holistic Sciences. She has continued to broaden her knowledge of bodywork through the St. John's Neuromuscular Pain Relief Institute and studied soft tissue release techniques with Stewart Taws. Previously Linda worked within the physical therapy practice of Dr. James Bonner as well as maintaining a private practice in Media for 14 years before joining Swarthmore Wellness in January 2008.

Krupali Desai, MD, BAMS


Krupali Desai is an experienced Ayurvedic Practitioner who studied Ayurvedic Medicine for 81/2 years at a renowned Gujarat Ayurveda University in India. She has received her MD in Ayurveda degree following a Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) degree. Her area of research is Hemiplegia (Stroke). She is also a Certified Massage Therapist from Institute for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork, Chadds Ford, PA. Krupali Desai has preferred Integrative approaches for restoration of physical, mental and spiritual well-being ever since she started pursuing Ayurveda studies. She has gained valuable experience in applying Ayurvedic principles for vastly improved quality of life in various illnesses.

Currently she offers her Ayurvedic services at Swarthmore Wellness Center and is a consultant at New York Ayurveda Center.  She is an expert in Pulse analysis, Women's disorders, Ayurvedic Treatments including Panchakarma (Detoxifying procedures), Ayurvedic herbs, Ayurvedic cooking etc. She is also pursuing her Masters in Public Health at Thomas Jefferson University. She lives in Aston, PA.

Krupali Desai has published articles in ‘Light on Ayurveda Journal of Health (Winter 2004, Fall 2005). She has also published various articles in Health Care Magazines in India. She has presented Research Papers in National and International Ayurvedic Conferences. She has offered many workshops with the goal of spreading the awareness for Ayurveda as a way of life in sickness and health. She was also invited as a guest on the New York Metro Health TV Channel to share her valuable knowledge on Ayurveda.
